Debabrata Samanta completed the NUJS diploma in Entrepreneurship Administration and Business Law in 2016. Over here he talks about his experience with the NUJS diploma course, and how it helped him. Over to Debabrata.
Presently, I‘m working with a Project Management Training and Consultancy startup company in India as Head-Operations, having more than 27 years of experience working in various roles in Research, Operation Management, Project Engineering and Management with Multi-national organizations in India and abroad.
I’m an engineering graduate from NIT, Durgapur with PGDM from AIMA and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI, USA.
While I was in Singapore, I was looking forward to some online courses on business law as I was planning to come back India. At the initial phase of my career, I was little averse to law as a subject because of limited understanding and awareness of the same. As my career progressed, I started to realize the importance of law. Then, I realized that if I have to grow further and to organize and manage a business, basic knowledge of the law, especially business laws, is very important. From that point, I started searching on the Internet for a course in law and that’s when I found iPleaders. After going through the details on the website, I found that I could do this course having a lot of flexibility and at my own time and pace. Secondly, what attracted me is the fact that a big name like NUJS is involved with it. Thirdly, the structure of the course was another criteria which made me decide to go for this course.
I have met iPleaders founders, Ramanuj and Abhyuday and found them to be very energetic. I have also seen their videos and it gives me a confidence in the organization.
One very important skill I have learned from this course is Contract Drafting. It gives an overview of what are the things one needs to consider while drafting a contract. Besides that, I also liked the module on Mergers & Acquisitions. The video lectures from experts were especially helpful as they give you the same understanding which you normally get when you attend a lecture or classroom training program. As a project manager, I have to deal with various types of contracts and learnings from this course have been very useful.
I have gained knowledge about what are things that I should look into from legal point of view and what are the things that I should ask my legal advisor. This knowledge would be very advantageous in my current role and for my future as well.
I have already recommended this course to my friends and colleagues. Whenever I interact with people who would benefit from the legal knowledge, I recommend this course to them. An important aspect of this course is that it is being constantly updated with the changes in laws which is in contrast with other courses that are usually outdated.
I feel that all types of professionals, whether they are founders of businesses or senior management people, would benefit from this course. Equipped with legal knowledge, one, especially at senior level, is further empowered to take a sound decision.
