E-mediation writings concluded the first ever Gen X Classroom Online Mediation Series through its Certificate Distribution Program

E-Mediation Writings, an e-platform dedicated to mediation-related education, concluded its first Online Mediation Classroom Series on 20th March 2021, for which the certificate distribution ceremony was held on 10th April 2021. The initiative began on 2nd January 2021 under the supervision and guidance of Ms. Pusshp Gupta, Advocate/Mediation Trainer and Coordinator-in-Chief, EMW, Mr. Thankanchan V.P. Advocate/Mediation Trainer and Senior Member, EMW and Anupam Sanghi, Advocate/Mediator as EMW GenNext Student’s Co-ordinator.

The classes aimed at imparting knowledge of mediation as an alternate dispute mechanism as per the recently proposed curriculum by the Bar Council of India. Pan India Senior Master Mediators/Mediation Trainers imparted the knowledge on the chapters on mediation online. The focal point of the Classroom Series were law students from 21 states and union territories engaged in understanding the intricacies of mediation from the stalwarts of the field themselves. A total of 78 students participated in the first lecture series. The key idea behind the endeavour was to impart education on mediation to the country’s next generation of lawyers and law students about the significance of peaceful resolution of disputes within the justice available justice delivery system. The Series also acting as an eye-opener into the major skills that go behind mediation as an ADR forum. The EMW gave opportunity to law students to pen articles on mediation and came out with Students Edition on 1st April 2021, same can be read on http://bit.ly/EMW-11.

The Chief Guest for the certificate distribution ceremony was Hon’ble Justice Mr. Vipin Sanghi, Judge Delhi High Court and Chairman of SAMADHAN Delhi High Court Mediation Centre. Justice Sanghi praised the initiatives undertaken by the EMW team, including the publication of monthly e-mediation magazines dedicated to articles, columns and updates on mediation. He categorised mediation as equivalent to therapy affecting not just the disputants or litigants but others connected as well. Mediation, according to him, provides a remedy and ease to the litigants who are suffering in the process, irrespective of their dispute area. He also emphasised the role of the mediator while dealing with parties.

In addition to the Chief Guest, the event also witnessed Hon’ble Justice Ms. Mukta Gupta, Judge Delhi High Court as the Guest of Honour for the occasion. At the outset, Justice Gupta congratulated the EMW team for imparting the skills and mediation through the online classroom series and bringing mediation as par with virtual court during these unprecedented times. She further complimented the contributors of the articles to the monthly magazines for understanding mediation in a diversified form and as an intersection of many fields.

Additionally, the Student-Body Representative of EMW Ms. Stuti Srivastava spoke about her experience throughout the classroom series. For her, the series provided her the basics of conflict resolution and mediation and with a holistic understanding of key objectives and skills that the field of mediation demands. She thanked the team for the overall exposure provided through series as well as the positive reinforcement of values for amicable resolution in all the participants.
