Eligibility
The age limit varies accordingly with the different posts, from 18 years to 30 years. With respect to the educational qualification, the candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any subject/stream or recognized university or equivalent.
Pattern and syllabus
Tier 1
There are 4 sections (25 questions each) in the tier 1 exam- Quantitative aptitude, General Awareness, Logical reasoning, and English comprehension skills.
The time limit for this exam is 60 mins.
For each correct answer, one gets 2 marks, while 0.5 marks are deducted for every incorrect response.
Tier 2
There are again 4 sections here, namely quantitative aptitude, English language and comprehension, statistics (only for those applying for Junior statistics officer), and general studies-finance and economics.
General studies- Finance and economics will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-IV, i.e., for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
There is a negative marking of 0.25 in paper 2 and 0.5 for the rest papers.
Tier 3
This exam is taken on an offline mode, in order to test the candidate’s proficiency in either English/Hindi.
The time limit for this is 60 mins.
Tier 4
The SSC CGL Tier 4 Exam comprises skill tests that are required for certain government posts. Candidates who secure at least the minimum qualifying marks in the examination (Tier I, II, III) can appear in the Skill Test.
This includes data entry speed test and computer proficiency test.
