Mehak Gupta is currently working as an associate with Economic Laws Practice, Mumbai in their general corporate team. Prior to this, she has interned a number of law firms like Tatva Legal, J Sagar Associates, Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co, Kochhar & Co.,Fox Mandal, Ernst & Young etc. She did her B.A. LL.B (Hons.) from Dr. RML National Law University, Lucknow and is pursuing CS, executive level.

She completed the NUJS diploma in Entrepreneurship Administration and Business Law in 2016. Over here she talks about her experience with the NUJS diploma course, and how it helped her get a job in a law firm after graduating from law school. Over to Mehak.

I joined the NUJS diploma in Entrepreneurship Administration and Business Laws while I was in the final year of my law school. I was inclined to pursue a career in corporate law since my first year of law school. Having interned at a law firm, I realized that the academic knowledge wasn’t adequate in a competitive atmosphere like that of a law firm. The practical exposure coupled with the basic understanding of any subject is crucial. Though class room teaching was satisfactory, it lacked the nitty-gritty’s essential to work in a law firm.

During one of my internships, one of the associates was an alumnus of the NUJS diploma course and shared the benefits of this course and how it immensely helped him. I decided to take up this course because the course syllabus was very comprehensive as it not only provided the basics but also the in-depth practical applicability of different laws.

Now I can definitely say that this course has added value to my profile and facilitated my growth. The knowledge gained through this course has boosted my confidence and helped me get through many interviews.

I found the modules on Arbitration, FDI, and Corporate Governance to be extremely informative. The module on drafting provided various templates that gave you a framework to build on. The webinars by various industry experts was an added advantage of this course. These were exceptionally outstanding, interactive and provided the much needed insights from a commercial point of view.

This course has definitely helped me, and shaped my future plans to pursue and build a career in corporate law. I still refer the course sometimes and get good direction from it.

I have mentioned this diploma in my CV. I would definitely recommend this course to people and have already done so.

This course is not just particularly beneficial for law students, but lawyers and entrepreneurs as well. As a matter of fact, I would recommend this to students pursuing CA and CS as they also need to have the basic understanding of the law.
